Looks like the federal investigation finally caught up with the Illinois Governor. It is kind of vague right now, but a day after the story broke that federal investigators had recordings of Blagojevich saying something, they took him into custody. Not sure if that means arrested, questioning or what. I do know that it proves in Illinois both Republican and Democrat Governors can be corrupt as all hell.
Nationally this matters because Blago will be appointing the Senator replacing Obama. Even if Blago is facing a trial he will likely retain his office, so I imagine he will still get to do this. Being appointed to the Senate by a Governor under indictment should be a little awkward. Maybe he will appoint himself, as some have suggested. He just may have the hubris to do that.
